Nancy Meedzan, DNP, RN, CNE, NEA-BC, serves as Associate Dean of Nursing and Professor of Nursing in the Department of Nursing within Providence College's School of Nursing and Health Sciences. She previously held the position of Dean of the Cummings School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Endicott College since 2019 and served as President of the Massachusetts Association of Colleges of Nursing. With nearly 20 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse in Rhode Island and Massachusetts hospitals, Dr. Meedzan transitioned into academia, teaching at institutions including North Shore Community College, Northern Essex Community College, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University, and Endicott College, where she advanced through faculty ranks and taught 18 different nursing courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. She joined Providence College in February 2023 as the Inaugural Chair of the Department of Nursing, effective July 2023, and was promoted to Associate Dean in July 2025, also serving as Interim Chair.
Dr. Meedzan holds a B.S.N. from Boston College (1987), an M.S.N. in Nursing Administration from Salem State University (1999), and a D.N.P. from Regis College (2012), with doctoral research on the impact of cultural immersion teaching experiences on transcultural self-efficacy in baccalaureate nursing students. Her research interests include Global Health Nursing, Intercultural Nursing, and Nursing Education. She is co-investigator on an international study examining the impact of COVID-19 on patients living with HIV and has led student immersion experiences to Guatemala, South Africa, and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Meedzan co-edited the book Global Health Nursing in the 21st Century (2015), contributing a chapter on Cultural Immersion Experiences in Nursing Education. Key publications include "Preparing Nursing Students for Education in the Global Village" (American Journal of Maternal Child Nursing, 2012), "Clickers in nursing education: An active learning tool in the classroom" (Online Journal of Nursing Informatics, 2009), "The Influence of Burnout, Resilience, and Resources to Support Clinical Practice among Newly Licensed Nurses Intended Job Plans" (Journal of Nursing Administration, 2025), and "Philanthropy Highlights the Value of Nursing to the Public" (Massachusetts Report on Nursing, 2022). She holds certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) from the National League of Nursing and Nurse Executive Advanced-BC (NEA-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
