Dr. Nasser Abosaq serves as Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Associate Professor of Computer Science at Yanbu Industrial College. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the Florida Institute of Technology. In his leadership capacity, he manages a department of 71 faculty members, promoting growth in technology education and research. Dr. Abosaq also holds the position of Editor for the Yanbu Journal of Engineering and Science.
His research focuses on software engineering, software reliability, databases, Internet of Things, smart cities, and blockchain. Key publications include early contributions to software reliability such as 'The use of robust statistics to improve the prediction of software failure time' (2008), 'Improvement of software reliability modeling predictions by the detection and removal of test outliers' (2009), and 'Better prediction of software failure times using order statistics' (2010). Recent works address emerging technologies, including 'Emerging Technologies for Implementation of Education System for the Citizens of Smart Societies' (2018), 'IoT based efficient solar panel monitoring' (2020), 'Wireless power transfer via inductive coupling' (2020), 'Potentializing Green-IoT, AI and 6G Technologies in Computational Thinking Education' (2023), and 'A novel BIM-enabled software-based solution for mitigating construction risk management' (2024). These publications demonstrate his expertise in applying computer science to practical engineering problems.
