Dr. Navid Nikraz is a Senior Lecturer in Construction Management within the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Curtin University, which falls under the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce, both obtained from the University of Western Australia in 2005. Nikraz completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Western Australia in 2008. He joined Curtin University in 2010 as a Senior Lecturer, where he engages in teaching, research, and supervision of postgraduate students. Currently, he supervises three PhD students and three MPhil students, supporting advanced studies in engineering fields such as construction and asset management.
His research specializations include asset management, options analysis, project feasibility, linear and non-linear state space observation, and power system protection. Nikraz applies fuzzy logic techniques to civil engineering challenges, notably in maintenance management and prioritization of urban roadway bridges. Key publications co-authored by him are 'A Fuzzy Approach for Maintenance Management of Urban Roadway Bridges' in the International Journal of Strategic Property Management (2021), 'Proposing Two Defuzzification Methods based on Output Fuzzy Set Weights' in the International Journal of Intelligent Systems and Applications (2016), 'A Method for Constructing Non-Isosceles Triangular Fuzzy Numbers Using Frequency Histogram and Statistical Parameters' in the Journal of Soft Computing in Civil Engineering (2017), and 'Identifying and evaluating the effective parameters in prioritization of urban roadway bridges for maintenance operations' in the Australasian Journal of Construction Economics and Building (2015). His work reflects an interdisciplinary integration of electrical engineering methodologies into construction and infrastructure management practices at Curtin University.
