Nazla Fatmi serves as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of English at Presidency University in Bangladesh, a role she assumed in February 2025. She holds an MA in English Language and Literature and a BA in English Language and Literature, both from the Department of English at Jahangirnagar University. Prior to her current position, Fatmi had a distinguished tenure at Eastern University in the Department of English, where she worked as Assistant Professor from 2015 to 2025, Senior Lecturer from 2011 to 2015, and Lecturer from 2008 to 2011. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated strong leadership in English language and literature education, contributing to curriculum development and student engagement in higher education institutions across Bangladesh.
Fatmi's scholarly work focuses on literary analysis, particularly post-apocalyptic narratives and philosophical themes in modern literature. Her notable publication, 'The Road: A Study of the Apocalypse Narrative and Nihilistic World-Building,' appeared in the Canadian Journal of Language and Literature Studies (Volume 5, Issue 3, 2025, pp. 24–35). In this article, she examines Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road, exploring the tension between nihilism and hope, the impact of narrative style on world-building, and the portrayal of environmental desolation in apocalyptic fiction. Beyond research, she actively participates in university life as Moderator of the Presidency University Cultural Club, promoting literature, arts, and cultural expression among students. She is also a member of the editorial board for the Presidency University Journal (ISSN: 2227-7610). Fatmi frequently addresses departmental events, including freshers' orientations, Bangla New Year celebrations, and International Women's Day programs, delivering speeches and providing guidance to foster academic and cultural growth. Her contributions extend to promoting programs such as BA (Honours) in English and MA in English Language Teaching at Presidency University.
