About Neslihan

Neslihan Akdeniz Onuki is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, focusing on controlled environments in dairy and greenhouse production within Agricultural and Veterinary Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering from Iowa State University, earned in 2008. Her research specializations encompass measuring air emissions using drone-based systems, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of livestock buildings and greenhouses, ventilation design for dairy buildings with automated milking systems, airborne disease control, and diseased animal tissue containment strategies. Akdeniz Onuki teaches BSE 367: Renewable Energy Systems and engages in extensive extension activities, producing articles on automated milking systems facility design considerations, dairy ventilation energy needs amid shifting seasonal temperatures, lighting in dairy buildings, tunnel-ventilated dairy buildings, natural ventilation, air quality in calf housing, and greenhouse designs for year-round crop production in Wisconsin.

Akdeniz Onuki contributes to the field as Associate Editor for Natural Resources & Environmental Systems (NRES) in the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) since 2023, and serves on ASABE committees including the 270X Livestock Ventilation Systems review committee and Plant, Animal, and Facility Systems (PAFS) 40 Animal Housing, Facilities and Systems.
