Nima Kordzadeh is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Business School, where he also holds an affiliation with the Data Science Program. He earned his PhD in Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2014, an MBA from Sharif University of Technology in 2009, and a BS in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2006. Before joining WPI in 2017, Kordzadeh served as an Instructor in the Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security at the University of Texas at San Antonio from 2009 to 2014 and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems at Idaho State University from 2014 to 2016. In 2025, he was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor.
His research specializes in the behavioral, organizational, and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and social technologies, with particular emphasis on biased outcomes from algorithmic systems, biases in online reviews, and the spread of misinformation on social media. Kordzadeh has authored numerous publications in leading journals, including 'Algorithmic Bias: Review, Synthesis, and Future Research Directions' with Maryam Ghasemaghaei (European Journal of Information Systems, 2022), 'Understanding How Algorithmic Injustice Leads to Making Discriminatory Decisions: An Obedience to Authority Perspective' with Maryam Ghasemaghaei (Information & Management, 2024), 'The Influence of the Big Five Personality Traits and Propensity to Trust on Online Review Behaviors: The Moderating Role of Gender' with Karoly Bozan (Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research, 2024), 'Health Promotion via Twitter: A Case Study of Three Medical Centers in the USA' (Health Promotion International, 2022), and 'Exploring Hospitals’ Use of Facebook: Thematic Analysis' with Diana Young (Journal of Medical Internet Research, 2018). His scholarship has accumulated over 1,400 citations. Kordzadeh contributes to the field as an associate editor for Internet Research and the International Conference on Information Systems, and through leadership roles such as past president, conference chair, and program chair at the Southern Association for Information Systems, as well as current vice president and program chair at the New England Chapter of the Association for Information Systems. In 2021, Chief Data Officer Magazine recognized him among five leading data science faculty at WPI's Foisie Business School.
