Dr. Nitasha Khehra serves as an Assistant Professor in the Postgraduate Department of Psychology at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, holding a permanent position since January 21, 2011. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at the same department from 2009 to 2011 and worked as a Social Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, from 2002 to 2009. Her academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Psychology awarded in 2007 by Panjab University, Chandigarh; an M.A. in Psychology in 2001 with First Division from the same university; a B.A. in 1999 with First Division and distinction from Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women; and clearance of UGC NET in December in her first attempt.
Dr. Khehra's research specializations include neuropsychology, clinical psychology, child and adolescent psychopathology, psychotherapy and counselling theories, systems of psychology, and psychology honours. She has contributed seven publications to SCOPUS, Web of Science, and UGC Care listed journals, two book chapters at the national level, and has presented 43 research papers at international and national conferences, achieving an h-index of 6, i10-index of 13, and 362 citations. Her professional experience encompasses work on 14 research projects, training in psychodiagnostics, neuropsychological assessment, and rehabilitation of clinical populations at PGIMER, where she also taught clinical psychology to M.Sc. Audiology and B.Sc. Physiotherapy students from 2006 to 2009.
A life member of the Indian Association for Clinical Psychologists and the Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Dr. Khehra has held positions on the Undergraduate Board of Studies (2017-2019) and Postgraduate Board of Studies (2019-2021) in Psychology at Panjab University, Chandigarh. She contributed to the Core Group for Social Sciences under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) in 2018 for framing integrated education blueprints. Enrolled as a Ph.D. supervisor at Panjab University since 2022, she acts as a resource person for pre-Ph.D. coursework and engages in paper setting and evaluation for undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses. Dr. Khehra received the Star Teacher Award from Rashtriya Mahila Mandal, Punjab, on September 5, 2022, and has been nominated for three national awards recognizing excellence. Since 2015, she has provided personal counselling and psychotherapy to students via the Geetanjali Counselling Helpline at her institution.
