Oak Pongsree, Ph.D., serves as Associate Program Chair, Business, and Assistant Teaching Professor of Economics, Business at Pennsylvania State University Abington. In this capacity, he co-coordinates the Business program with Peter Hornberger and supports academic activities across majors including finance, accounting, project and supply chain management, marketing, and management information systems. His office is located in 305A Sutherland, and he teaches courses such as microeconomic policy, contributing to student success in business fields. Pongsree has supervised honors theses, as noted in Penn State Abington's 2024 spring commencement program, and provides career advice to students exploring supply chain management and related disciplines.
Pongsree earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Michigan State University in 2006, with a dissertation titled 'Learning and Experimentation in Dieting and Health,' co-chaired by Thomas D. Jeitschko and Rowena Pecchenino. He previously held an M.A. from Michigan State University, where he served as an instructor in economics from 1998 to 2002. Pongsree obtained an M.B.A. from Western Michigan University and worked as an instructor there from 2004 to 2006, as recorded in Western Michigan University Board of Trustees documents. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University in 1993. Prior to joining Penn State Abington, he was Assistant Professor of Economics at Wesley College starting in 2006, advancing to Full Professor in 2017, as announced by Wesley College. During his time at Wesley, he presented at the Eastern Economic Association's 37th Annual Meetings, advised students at national conferences, and served as treasurer for the Sigma Beta Delta chapter. In 2007, he signed an economists' letter to Congress on energy bills. More recently, Pongsree discussed tariffs on The Lancaster Patriot Podcast.
