Odair Correa Bueno is a professor at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), affiliated with the Instituto de Biociências on the Rio Claro campus in the Departamento de Biologia Geral e Aplicada. He holds a bachelor's degree in Ciências Biológicas from UNESP, as well as a master's degree and a Ph.D. in Zoology from the Universidade de São Paulo. His research centers on myrmecology, with a primary focus on the biology, ecology, and control of leaf-cutting ants (Attini), including studies on their symbiotic fungi, population dynamics, and alternative control methods using botanical extracts and other agents. Bueno has contributed extensively to understanding the interactions between ants, their associated microorganisms, and environmental factors, as evidenced by numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as ant nutrition, toxicity of compounds to ants and their symbionts, and urban ant species.
