About Odemir

Odemir Martinez Bruno is a Full Professor at the Instituto de Física de São Carlos of the Universidade de São Paulo. He received his B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Escola de Engenharia de Piracicaba in 1991, his M.Sc. in Physics from the Universidade de São Paulo in 1995, his Ph.D. in Physics from the Universidade de São Paulo in 2000, and his livre-docência in Computer Science from the Universidade de São Paulo in 2006. He is head of the Scientific Computing Group and vice-head of the Department of Material Sciences at the Instituto de Física de São Carlos.

Bruno’s research interests include artificial intelligence, computer vision, image analysis, chaos, fractals, complex systems, complex networks, pattern recognition, plant sciences, and bioinformatics. He is the author of approximately one hundred papers in scientific journals, several book chapters, and co-author of two books. He is also an inventor of seven patents. His contributions span discrete dynamical systems, data science, nonlinear science, and related areas, with applications in fields such as plant identification and complex network analysis.
