About P. Arun

Dr. P. Arun Mozhi Devan serves as Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, a position he has held since December 2025. A Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the Engineering Council UK and an active member of IEEE and IET, he earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia, in 2022. He previously obtained his M.E. in Control and Instrumentation Engineering from Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, in 2016, and his B.E. in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from Muthayammal Engineering College, Tamil Nadu, in 2014. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Devan worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Research, Innovation, and Commercialisation at UTP from October 2022 to December 2025. Earlier in his career, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College from 2016 to 2018.

Dr. Devan's research specializations encompass fractional-order controllers and advanced PID controllers, non-linear and multivariable process control, autonomous and unmanned systems control, process modelling, control and optimization, and wireless monitoring and control. His expertise extends to control systems, fractional-order control, advanced PID and predictive control, nonlinear and multivariable process control, process modelling and optimization, wireless monitoring and networked control systems, and autonomous robotic and UAV control systems. He has produced over 16 SCI journal publications, multiple conference papers, two international books, and a book chapter. Notable publications include 'An Approximation Technique for Fractional-Order Dynamical Systems of Complex Orders' (2025, Springer), 'Fractional-order PID Plus Derivative Controllers for Speed Control of Serving Robot' (2025, IEEE), 'Arithmetic-Trigonometric Optimization Algorithm' (2022, Springer), and 'Fractional-Order Predictive PI Controller-Based Dead-Time Compensator for Wireless Networks' (2023). Dr. Devan has received international innovation awards, including those from the Malaysia Technology Expo and the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK). He serves as a reviewer for reputed international journals, provides industry-oriented consultancy in industrial automation, wireless control networks, intelligent sensing, and robotics, and mentors students in research and applied engineering problem-solving.
