Professor Parikshit Goswami holds a B.Sc. (Tech) in textile technology, an MSc in Advanced Textile and Performance Clothing, and a PhD from the University of Leeds. Prior to academia, he worked in various industries, including a world-leading third-party textile testing and quality certification company. He possesses professional qualifications including MRSC, ASDC, CCol, CText, FTI, CMgr, MCMI, and FHEA. Currently, Professor Goswami serves as Director of Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Exchange at the University of Huddersfield, overseeing the university's research, innovation, and knowledge exchange operations and strategy. He is also Director of the Technical Textiles Research Centre. Previously at Huddersfield, he was Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Exchange for Arts and Humanities, Head of the Department of Fashion and Textiles, and Head of the Department of Music and Design Arts. Before joining Huddersfield, he was Director of Research and Innovation at the School of Design, University of Leeds, and led the Fibre and Fabric Functionalisation Research group there. Since arriving at Huddersfield, he has secured government and commercial funding for several projects, including a collaborative £5.4M AHRC Creative Economy-Industry Challenge project with the University of Leeds and the Royal College of Art.
Goswami's research focuses on product development using flexible materials, application of chemistry for functionalising textiles, fibre/polymer science, nonwovens, medical textiles, sustainable materials, nano/submicron fibres for novel applications, plasma treatment for textiles, technical textiles, textile dyeing and finishing, and fibre-reinforced composites. His contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goals including Good Health and Well-being, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Climate Action. With a Google Scholar h-index of 22 and 1,585 citations, his work demonstrates significant academic impact. Key publications include 'A Novel Methodology for AI-based Sorting of Post-Consumer Textile Using Spectrophotometer' (2024), 'Alginate–Arabinoxylan Composite Films with Enhanced Mechanical Strength and Functional Properties for Potential Food Packaging Use' (2026), 'A scoping review of materials and approaches for developing antibacterial textiles' (2026), and 'Recent Development on Sorting of Textiles Waste by Fibre Type for Recycling: A Mini Review' (2026). He holds influential roles as the first academic appointed to the board of the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), Trustee of the Society of Dyers and Colourists, member of EDANA’s R&D working group, and member of the advisory board for Textiles 2030. Additionally, he is President of the Bradford Textile Society, Freeman of the City of London, and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen. Goswami has delivered 26 invited talks, 20 oral presentations, and keynotes on topics such as technical textiles, circularity, and industry-academia collaborations.
