About Parthasarathy

Parthasarathy P serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, having joined on July 2, 2018. He obtained his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, India, M.Tech. in Thermal Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India, and Ph.D. from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. Prior roles include Scientific Staff at the German Aerospace Center, Stuttgart, Germany (October 2013–July 2016), and Assistant Professor at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore (July 2016–June 2018). His research specializations encompass fluid flow and heat transfer in porous media, porous media injectors for cryogenic engines, and solar fuels. As Principal Investigator, he completed the ISRO-RESPOND project on design analysis and demonstration of the porous injector concept for throttling of liquid rocket engines; the DST project on design and testing of robust, high-efficient, low-polluting LPG porous burners for household applications; and the SERB project on evaluation of macroscopic properties of ideal porous media for solar reactors and low-emission combustors using experiments and CFD simulations. He was also Co-Principal Investigator on a project for development of convertible and cost-effective mechanism for smart-flower type solar panels.

Parthasarathy P has published extensively in international journals, contributing to advancements in porous media applications. Selected publications include: "Enhancement of heat transfer with porous/solid insert for a laminar flow of participating gas in a 3-D square duct" (Numerical Heat Transfer Part A, 2009, with P. Talukdar, V. Ratna Kishore); "Identification of Radiative Properties of Reticulated Ceramic Porous Inert Media using Ray-tracing Technique" (Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy & Radiative Transfer, 2012, with P.
