Patricia Lane is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney Law School. She holds an LL.B. and an LL.M. from the University of Sydney. Admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 1982 and as a barrister in 1998, she maintains an active practice at the NSW Bar. Prior to her current academic role, Lane served as Registrar and Member of the National Native Title Tribunal. She has also contributed to peace negotiations in Sudan, acting as a resource person to mediators and parties on matters concerning land, environment, and natural resources.
Lane’s research interests encompass property law, native title, environmental law, equity, property regimes and peace-making, and legal interpretation. She has published on topics including statutory interpretation. Her professional experience bridges legal practice, tribunal administration, and academic teaching in land law, property, commercial law, and interpretation at the University of Sydney.
