Professor Patrick Morel is a Professor in the School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University. Originally from Geneva, Switzerland, he earned a Diploma in Agricultural Engineering in 1980 and a Doctor of Science Techniques in 1987, both from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, with degrees focused on Animal Science. Prior to joining Massey University, he served as Head Geneticist at the Swiss Pig Breeding Centre and completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the New Zealand Medical Research Council in the early 1990s. Since then, he has contributed to numerous areas of Animal Science across multiple species.
His research interests include bioactive food and feed ingredients, animal nutrition and physiology, pig nutrition, animal mathematical modelling, and statistical data analysis. Professor Morel has received the Massey University Research Medal in 2019 for supervision and the Massey University College Research Award in 2017 for supervision. He maintains an extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as animal nutrition, growth modelling, and related fields.
