Pedro Martín Barrajón is a specialist psychologist and accredited expert in emergencies and catastrophes by the Consejo General de la Psicología de España (AE 040/2019). He holds a Master's degree and University Specialist in Suicidal Behaviors from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO), a Master's in Clinical and Health Psychology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), and several University Expert qualifications in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment; psychosocial intervention in crises, emergencies, and catastrophes; personality disorders, neuropsicobiology, evaluation, and treatment; and Contextual Therapies and Third Generation Therapies (ACT). Additionally, he possesses a Diploma in Treatment of Normal and Pathological Grief from IPIR Barcelona. With over 20 years of professional experience, he serves as Director of Psicourgencias: Prevención, Intervención y Duelo por Suicidio, S.L., and is a member of the Mental Health Working Group of the Sociedad Española de Medicina de Emergencias (SEMES).
Throughout his career, Pedro Martín Barrajón has held key appointments including Chief of Room for the Psychological Attention Device during the COVID-19 crisis managed by the Ministry of Health and Consejo General de la Psicología in 2020, Coordinator of the National Network of Psychologists Experts in Suicidal Behaviors and Mutual Aid Groups for Suicide Survivors from 2021 to 2024, former Coordinator General of the National Network of Emergency Psychologists for the Railway Accident Victims Attention Plan in 2017, and former Coordinator of the Suicide Prevention Group in the Madrid Community's Public Mental Health Network. He coordinated mandatory training in 2024 for over 650 SAMUR-Protección Civil Madrid professionals on 'Intervention in Suicide Crises in Extrahospitalary Emergencies' and for the Agencia de Seguridad y Emergencias 112 ASEM Madrid on 'Telephone Attention in Suicide Crises from a 112 Coordination Center.' Internationally, he co-coordinates the Diplomado Internacional en Abordaje Integral de la Conducta Suicida with Centro Cognos in Mexico. His key publications include co-authoring the 'Guía Práctica para la Intervención en Crisis Suicidas' for the Basque Government Department of Health in collaboration with Osakidetza and Ertzaintza, the 'Algoritmo de Atención Telefónica en Crisis Suicidas' for the Ministry of Health and Consejo General de la Psicología, and the article 'Intervención en crisis suicidas en los servicios de emergencias médicas' published in the SEMES journal Emergencias (2024, DOI: 10.55633/s3me/054.2024). He regularly participates as a speaker in SEMES national congresses and delivers specialized trainings for emergency services, police, and firefighters across Spain and internationally, contributing significantly to suicide prevention and crisis intervention protocols.
