Pedro Mzileni served as Lecturer in the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of the Humanities at the University of the Free State from 1 November 2022 until 31 December 2023. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Nelson Mandela University, along with a BA in Sociology, BA Honours in Sociology, and MA in Sociology from the same institution. His academic work centres on higher education studies, decolonisation, studentification, and related sociological topics. Prior to his appointment at the University of the Free State, Mzileni was affiliated with Nelson Mandela University, where he also completed his doctoral studies. He subsequently took up the position of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Zululand.
