Dr. Peggy Carpenter serves as Assistant Dean of University College at Middle Tennessee State University, where she directs academic outreach and support services tailored for adult and non-traditional students pursuing education degrees and interdisciplinary programs. In this capacity, she oversees key initiatives such as the Adult Degree Completion Program, Prior Learning Assessment, and University Studies, enabling learners to convert professional experience into academic credits and accelerate their path to graduation. Carpenter leads recruitment efforts for adult and online students as part of MTSU's Strategic Priority 3 – Quest for Student Success 2025, expanding access to higher education across all colleges. She contributes to institutional improvement as a member of the University Assessment Committee, focusing on evaluating student learning outcomes, and engages professionally through the Association for Continuing Higher Education's South Region.
Dr. Carpenter has been instrumental in forging impactful partnerships to advance workforce education and degree attainment. She spearheaded the collaboration with Bridgestone for the Applied Leadership Certificate program, designed specifically for manufacturing employees to build leadership skills. Additionally, she manages the tuition-free degree access initiative with McGuire Management Group, benefiting employees at McDonald's franchises by providing seamless enrollment in MTSU programs. Carpenter has partnered with Motlow State Community College to host Finish Your Degree Q&A events, attracting prospective students from the region. She also supported the launch of the public safety concentration within the Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies, a flexible online option for working public safety professionals. Through these efforts, she enhances educational opportunities and career advancement for diverse adult learners at Middle Tennessee State University.
