Professor Peter Carey is a Professor of Accounting and Head of the Department of Accounting in Deakin Business School at Deakin University, within the Faculty of Business and Law. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy and serves as Chair in Accounting. A Fellow Chartered Accountant, Carey directs the Deakin Integrated Reporting Research Centre and contributes to the Deakin Business Value Creation Centre. His academic career includes prior positions, such as affiliations with the Department of Accounting and Finance at Monash University. Carey's research focuses on auditing, integrated reporting, sustainability reporting, and corporate governance. He is a member of the American Accounting Association and has engaged in professional activities supporting business reporting and SME performance research.
