Peter Williamson is the Associate Dean (Māori) Strategy and Engagement and the Māori Strategic Framework Facilitator, known as Rautaki Hononga | Kaitakawaenga, in the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Otago. He plays a key role in Māori student support within the faculty, encouraging engagement and providing guidance to Māori students. Peter Williamson contributes to various university activities and events. He delivered the karakia and mihi to open the Brain Health Research Centre annual conference. He provided a karakia for the opening of the newly renovated staffroom in the Department of Biochemistry. He participated in initiatives during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, supporting the incorporation of te reo Māori in the School of Biomedical Sciences. As an Associate Dean Māori for the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences under Health Sciences, he works alongside other associate deans. He served as the invited speaker for the Otago Medical School Research Society in 2021. He also facilitated aspects of the Māori Strategic Framework for the faculty, including discussions on taonga and strategic planning.
