About Phaneendra

Phaneendra Kiran Chaganti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, within the Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering domain. He obtained his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, between 1997 and 2001. Subsequently, he completed his M.E. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from BITS Pilani from 2002 to 2004. In 2013, he was awarded a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani for his thesis titled 'Experimental investigation for quality evaluation and concurrent design principles applied to CNC turning'. His academic career at BITS Pilani commenced as a Lecturer at the K K Birla Goa Campus from 2004 to 2013. He then transitioned to the Hyderabad Campus as Assistant Professor from June 2013 to May 2021, and has served as Associate Professor since June 2021.

Chaganti's research interests encompass sustainable manufacturing, braided composites, and graph theory, reflected in his Google Scholar profile with over 512 citations. Key publications include 'Whole-body inhalation study of nanoparticle-enhanced vegetable oil-based metalworking fluid' (Scientific Reports, 2025), 'Effect of addition of graphene nanoplatelets on the mechanical properties of epoxy/glass triaxial braided composites' (2023), 'An empirical study on implementation of sustainable manufacturing practices in Indian industries' (2024), 'Fabrication and mechanical characterization of glass fibre reinforced epoxy composites using braiding technique' (Journal of Composite Materials, 2021), 'Evaluation for sustainability of machining processes in incremental sheet forming using TOPSIS method' (Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020), and 'Performance evaluation of novel developed biodegradable metalworking fluids on Inconel 718 alloy' (2017).
