Professor Pius Adewale Owolawi serves as Professor of Telecommunication and Information Technology at Tshwane University of Technology. He holds the position of Assistant Dean for Industry Liaison, Special Projects, and Work Integrated Learning in the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. He has also served as Head of the Department of Computer Systems Engineering.

His research encompasses telecommunication engineering topics including radio propagation, rainfall rate modeling and rain attenuation for satellite and LOS systems, free space optical communications, hybrid FSO/RF systems, green communication, millimeter wave bands, and applications of deep learning and computer vision in domains such as plant disease recognition, vehicle detection, and related areas.
