Dr. Pradeep Koppolu is the Discipline Lead and Program Convenor for Periodontics and Implantology and Senior Lecturer in the Dental School at the University of Western Australia. He earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, India, in 2006, Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Periodontology from the same institution in 2011, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Sciences (Periodontology) from a Malaysian university in 2023. He also holds a degree in clinical research and clinical trial monitoring.
Dr. Koppolu's career spans academia and clinical practice across India and Saudi Arabia before joining UWA. From 2011 to 2015, he served as Assistant Professor in Periodontics at Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery, Vikarabad, India, and as Consultant Periodontist, Laser Specialist, and Implantologist at FMS Dental Hospitals, Hyderabad. He was Senior Lecturer in Preventive Dental Sciences at Al Farabi Colleges, Riyadh (2015-2018), and Assistant Professor in Preventive Dental Sciences at Dar Al Uloom University, Riyadh (2018-2023), holding additional roles as Head of Teaching and Learning (NCAAA Standard 2), Head of Scientific Research Committee, and member of Ethics, Quality, and Internal Audit Committees. His research interests include periodontics, laser dentistry, implantology, microbiology, nanomaterials, and biomarkers, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals in health, education, and partnerships. He has published over 120 papers, holds two patents, and authored a book on research methodology. Awards include Best Researcher at Dar Al Uloom University (2021), Keystone Educator Award (2025), Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (2024), and Pierre Fauchard Academy Fellowship. He holds laser dentistry certifications from the European Medical Laser Association and UCSF School of Dentistry, and specialist periodontist registration from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
