Rate My Professor Pradeep Kumar

Pradeep Kumar is a Personal Professor in the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology at the University of the Witwatersrand. He holds a BPharm, MPharm, and PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand. His doctoral thesis focused on the design and development of polymer-engineered neural devices for potential application in reducing neurological deficits after spinal cord injuries, and it was awarded the Wits Faculty of Health Sciences’ Most Prestigious PhD Degree Award. Kumar serves as Senior Researcher at the Wits Advanced Drug Delivery Platform (WADDP) Research Unit, where his work centers on pharmaceutics, drug delivery, regenerative medicine, biomaterials, and neuromaterials.

Kumar has received numerous awards and honors, including the NRF Y1 rating, the Wits Health Consortium’s Great Leap Forward Entrepreneurial Academic Award in 2021, the Friedel Sellschop Award in 2019, the ASRT Young African Researcher Award in 2018 in the category of Health and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans in 2018 in the category of Science and Technology, the Claude Leon Foundation Merit Award in 2018, and the African-German Network of Excellence in Science Junior Researcher Grant in 2018. He is a member of the Global Young Academy and has contributed to policy influence efforts through the South African Young Academy of Science. Kumar maintains an active research profile with extensive publications in pharmaceutics and related fields, reflected in high citation counts on academic databases.
