Prasanth George is a Teaching Professor and Director of Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Mathematics at Northeastern University’s College of Science. In this role, he teaches a wide range of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses, having delivered seven different classes, many multiple times, to large numbers of students from diverse majors. His responsibilities also include serving as faculty advisor for all combined mathematics majors, coordinating the mathematics tutoring center, scheduling undergraduate classes for the department, training teaching assistants, and contributing as a member of the College of Science Undergraduate Curriculum Committee. George joined Northeastern in 2014 as an Associate Teaching Professor and has since advanced to his current position, demonstrating strong leadership in curriculum management and student support.
George holds a PhD in Mathematics, with a focus on Mathematical Biology and Dynamical Systems, from the University at Buffalo in 2009. He previously earned an MS in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Computational Fluid Dynamics, from the same institution in 2004, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, India. His teaching excellence has been recognized with several prestigious awards. In 2020, he received the College of Science Excellence in Teaching Award for effectively conveying difficult material and fostering exceptional student learning, with students describing him as their “best,” “favorite,” and “incredible” teacher. Earlier, in 2017, he was honored with the College of Engineering Outstanding Teacher of First Year Students Award. In 2026, George was named one of the Outstanding Teachers of First Year Engineering Students by the College of Engineering. Through his dedicated efforts, he has significantly influenced mathematics education and undergraduate program development at Northeastern University.
