Preksha Bhagchandani is an MD-PhD student at Stanford University School of Medicine. She is a Ph.D. Student in Immunology, admitted Autumn 2020, and an MSTP Student, with an expected MD graduation in Spring 2026. Her research focuses on diabetes immunology and transplantation tolerance, including work on mixed hematopoietic chimerism to induce islet tolerance for curing diabetes in mouse models.
She has co-authored several publications, including "Improved conditioning for hematopoietic chimerism induces islet tolerance to cure diabetes" in JCI Insight (2026), "Curing autoimmune diabetes in mice with islet and hematopoietic cell transplantation after CD117 antibody-based conditioning" in The Journal of Clinical Investigation (2025), "Curative islet and hematopoietic cell transplantation in diabetic mice without toxic bone marrow conditioning" in Cell Reports (2022), "Islet cell replacement and transplantation immunology in a mouse strain with inducible diabetes" in Scientific Reports (2022), and a contribution to "A conserved Bacteroidetes antigen induces anti-inflammatory intestinal T lymphocytes" in Science (2022). She joined the labs of Drs. Seung Kim and Everett Meyer as part of the Immunology PhD program in 2018.
