Dr. Preman Chandranathan is a Lecturer and Singapore Discipline Lead for Business at Murdoch University Singapore. He specializes in leadership and management studies, with research interests in leadership within entrepreneurial settings, family businesses, and negotiation theory. Chandranathan holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy in business and management, all obtained on scholarships from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. His doctoral thesis, titled 'The activity of entrepreneurial leadership,' was completed in 2020 under the supervision of Dermot O'Reilly and Claire Leitch. Prior to entering academia, he worked in general management and human resources administration at his family-owned business in Singapore from 2006 to 2013, which sparked his interests in small business management, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Chandranathan began his academic career in 2013 at Lancaster University as an Economic and Social Research Council Fellow, advancing to the role of Lecturer, equivalent to Assistant Professor. In 2021, he relocated to Singapore, serving first as adjunct faculty at Curtin University Singapore and then as Assistant Professor at SP Jain School of Global Management's Singapore campus before joining Murdoch University. He has taught extensively in leadership and management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additionally, he possesses professional qualifications in academic practice, training, and coaching, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the United Kingdom. Chandranathan has contributed to global collaboration efforts for AACSB accreditation at Murdoch Business School.
