About Priya
Dr. Priya Sahadevan is an academic staff member at Curtin University Dubai, contributing to the delivery of engineering courses and the organization of international conferences. She is listed in the university's class schedule, associated with sessions involving engineering subjects such as computer-aided drawing and engineering modeling. Additionally, she serves as staff in charge for parallel paper presentation sessions at the 2nd International Conference on Innovation, Sustainability, and Applied Sciences (ICISAS 2025), held on February 22-23, 2025, overseeing discussions on renewable energy, sustainable systems, technology, AI, and sustainability topics. Her involvement extends to other events, including the ASET 2023 Engineering Innovations Conference, where her research was presented.
Priya Sahadevan specializes in additive manufacturing research, focusing on selective laser melting (SLM) processes for 17-4PH stainless steel, a martensitic precipitation-hardening alloy used in demanding industrial applications. Her studies investigate the effects of printing parameters like laser power, scan speed, hatch spacing, and layer thickness on critical properties including tensile strength, wear rate, surface roughness, density, and corrosion resistance. Key publications include 'Effect of printing process parameters on tensile strength and wear rate of 17-4PH stainless steel deposited using SLM process' (Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale, 2024, cited by 12), which employs experimental design to correlate parameters with mechanical performance and wear behavior. 'Surface Roughness Optimization of Selective Laser Melting Printed 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Parts' (Journal of Mines, Metals and Fuels, 2024) applies optimization techniques to achieve smoother finishes. Other works are 'Selective Laser Melting Parametric Optimization for Density and Corrosion Resistance of 17-4PH Stainless Steel' (2024) and 'Selective Laser Melting Process Parameter Optimization on Density and Corrosion Resistance of 17-4PH Stainless Steel' (Archives of Foundry Engineering, 2023). She collaborates with researchers from the School of Science and Engineering at Curtin University Dubai, including Chithirai Pon Selvan, contributing to advancements in metal additive manufacturing for sectors like aerospace and engineering.
