About Priyanka

Dr. Priyanka Ahlawat is an Assistant Professor Grade-I in the Department of Computer Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra. She received her Ph.D. in computer science and engineering from NIT Kurukshetra in 2015, focusing on wireless sensor networks security. With 18.5 years of experience in teaching and research, her academic interests encompass information security, cryptography, key management, IoT security, computer networks, satellite communication, Internet of Things, and wireless sensor networks. Dr. Ahlawat actively supervises Ph.D. scholars and coordinates courses in areas such as distributed computing and machine learning.

Dr. Ahlawat has an extensive publication record, including 24 papers in SCI/Scopus-indexed international journals, 4 in non-Scopus journals, 12 book chapters, and 54 international conference papers, amassing over 500 citations on Google Scholar. Notable publications include 'A Cost-Effective Attack Matrix Based Key Management Protocol for Hierarchical Wireless Sensor Networks' (International Journal of Communication Systems, 2018), 'An Attack Model Based Highly Secure Key Management Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks' (Procedia Computer Science), 'Key Management in WSN Security: An Attacker's Perspective' (Handbook of Research on the IoT, Cloud Computing, and Wireless Network Optimization), 'Cyber Security for Smart Grids' (2022 book chapter), 'Multi-Objective Feature Selection for Phishing Detection: A Hybrid Approach' (2025), 'Enhanced Phishing URL Identification using an Ensemble Learning Approach' (International Journal of Information and Communication Technology), and 'Improved PSO-based Adversarial Model for WSN' (International Journal of Productivity and Quality Management, 2025). She co-edited the book 'Security and Privacy Issues in Sensor Networks and IoT'. As Principal Investigator, she heads the ISRO RAC-S funded project 'Key Management for Secure Multicast Applications in Space-Terrestrial Integrated Networks' (October 2022 onwards) with Prof. Mayank Dave, and leads 'Development of a Deep Learning Enabled Algorithm for Automatic Modulation Recognition/Classification'. Dr. Ahlawat has organized short-term courses such as 'Emerging Technologies in Cyber Security and IoT' (2023) and 'Secure Networking for Emerging Tech' (2026), and is a member of IEEE, ACM, and CSI.
