Dr. R. Rangarajan serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce at the University of Madras, Chepauk Campus, Chennai. His academic qualifications include an M.Com, M.Phil, Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE), Ph.D., and D.Litt. in Commerce. Boasting 27 years of extensive teaching and research experience, he started his career in 1993 as a Lecturer at DG Vaishnav College, advancing to Senior Lecturer prior to his appointment as Professor at the University of Madras on August 20, 2009. He assumed the role of Head of Department on July 1, 2020. Additionally, he holds positions such as Dean in-charge of the College Development Council and has served as a Syndicate Member for the University of Madras and Anna University.

Dr. Rangarajan's research specializations lie in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour, and International Business. As a recognized Ph.D. supervisor by the University of Madras and Mother Teresa Women's University, he guides doctoral students. He has produced 139 publications in national and international journals, including “BRIDGING Vision Realisation Strategic Planning” with Neelavathy V. (Journal of Informatics Education and Research, 2026), "Work Intensification: Examining Its Association With Employee Vitality And Perceived Quality Of Work" (2026), "Work Craving as a Predictor of Workplace Happiness" (2025), and "Redefining a Satisfied Workforce: Unveiling the Role of Quality of Work Life" with K.M.S. Vinitha (2025). He has participated in 9 seminars and conferences. Dr. Rangarajan has earned over 30 awards and honors, such as the Best Faculty Award (2021), GRF International Awards & Honors for Distinguished Academician in Higher Education (2021), GMRAF Research Supervisor Excellence Award (2021), Research Advisor Excellence Award, ESN Award, Dedicated Professional Award, and Lifetime Achiever Award, highlighting his substantial contributions to academia.
