Ms. Punam Mazumdar serves as an Assistant Professor of Law at Balaji Law College, Pune, affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University. She holds a Master of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Master of Laws (LLM), and qualified the Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (MH-SET) in Law in June 2023. Additionally, she possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Corporate Law. Punam Mazumdar joined Balaji Law College as a full-time faculty member in August 2023. In her role, she teaches subjects including Professional Ethics to undergraduate law students. She serves as the Class In-Charge for the BALLB 5th Year students, overseeing their academic and extracurricular activities.
Punam Mazumdar has actively contributed to the academic and co-curricular life at Balaji Law College. She coordinated several events, including guest lectures on Professional Ethics, educational visits to Yerwada Central Jail for final-year students, and a Poster Making Competition on Anti-Ragging Awareness. She played a key role in organizing a Multidisciplinary Conference where she received the Best Paper Award in the Scholars/Academicians category. Her research includes a publication titled 'Looking at LGBTQ Rights in India Through the Prism of Judicial Review,' which analyzes the judiciary's role in upholding LGBTQ rights through landmark judgments such as Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India, decriminalizing consensual same-sex conduct under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. The work examines judicial review, legislative efforts, and efforts toward equality for the LGBTQ community. Through her teaching, event coordination, research, and awards, Punam Mazumdar contributes to legal education and awareness in professional ethics, constitutional rights, and societal issues within the field of law.
