Dr. R. S. Tambe serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science & Design at Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil College of Engineering, Ahmednagar. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and possesses 15 years of teaching experience. The department under his leadership was established in 2021 with an annual intake capacity of 60 students. It focuses on imparting training in computer programming tailored for engineering applications to address challenges in the IT industry. The curriculum prepares students for placements in prominent companies and careers in digital media industries, encompassing gaming, animation, virtual reality, augmented reality, product design, and web design. The department maintains highly qualified and experienced staff along with well-equipped laboratories featuring the latest software and hardware configurations. The Association of Computer Science & Design Engineering Students (ACES) organizes co-curricular activities, including expert lectures, educational visits, and programming contests to enhance student skills.

Dr. R. S. Tambe has authored and co-authored several research publications demonstrating his contributions to computer science and engineering fields. Prominent among them is "DL-ML Based Prediction of Diabetic Retinopathy Using Fundus Images," published in the International Journal of Engineering Research & Technology (IJERT) in 2026, where he is listed as the lead author Dr. R. S. Tambe alongside co-authors S. D. Aware, R. S. Chaudhari, A. A. Kasar, and D. D. Kulkarni. Another publication is "Neo-Campus Academic Management System" in IJERT.
