About R.

Dr. R. Singaravel is a Professor and Registrar in-charge in the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University. He holds B.Sc. (Ag.), M.Sc. (Ag.), and Ph.D. (Ag.) degrees, bringing 32 years of teaching and research experience since joining the department on January 17, 1994. His research specializes in soil fertility and plant nutrition, with key interests in soil fertility management, integrated nutrient management, micronutrient nutrition, organic manure utilization, and the management of coastal sandy and saline soils. These efforts focus on crops including groundnut, rice, sesame, and medicinal plants, addressing nutrient availability, enzyme activity, yield enhancement, and soil health in challenging coastal ecosystems.

Dr. Singaravel has an extensive publication record, comprising 34 national journal articles, 51 international journal articles, 102 national conference proceedings, and 10 international conference papers. He has authored two books: 'Soil Fertility Management for Medicinal Plants' (Agrobios, 2020, ISBN 978-81-947480-5-2) and 'Soil Fertility and Integrated Nutrient Management' (International Books and Periodical Supply Service, 2021, ISBN 978-93-88892-67-4). Representative publications include 'Influence of organics and various levels of NPK on the soil nutrient availability, enzyme activity and yield of groundnut in coastal sandy soil' (Journal of Indian Society of Soil Science, 2011) and 'Influence of organics and levels of NPK on the yield and nutrient availability of groundnut in coastal sandy soil' (Mysore Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2012). He has supervised 7 M.Sc. and 4 Ph.D. degrees awarded, with ongoing guidance, and completed 6 major and 5 minor research projects totaling Rs. 67,81,000. Awards include the Indian Society of Soil Science best Ph.D. thesis award (1998) and the Endeavour Award (Australia, 2010). As Registrar in-charge since 2023, he fulfills critical administrative duties including board of studies membership.
