Rachel Aluesi serves as a Student Advisor in the Learning Support Team of the Disability Information and Support at the University of Otago. She has been a key member of the team since 2012, starting in the role of Test/Exam Co-ordinator before transitioning to Student Advisor in 2020. In her current position, Aluesi works directly with students who have disabilities, helping them to overcome challenges, achieve their academic goals, and reach their full potential through personalized support and accommodations.
Aluesi has actively contributed to initiatives improving support for disabled students. She acted as project administrator for the development of new guidelines to help disabled students achieve, collaborating with Dr. Martha Bell and University of Otago personnel, as noted in 2017 coverage. She also served as ACHIEVE Administrator in the preparation of the 'Guidelines and Procedures for the Provision of Alternative Arrangements to Students with Disability'. Her involvement supports the University of Otago's recognized leadership in disability services, featured in 2018 team highlights and recent 2024-2025 news on equitable campus environments.
