Ralf Tarciso Silva Cordeiro is a full professor in the Departamento de Biologia at Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE). He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from UFRPE in 2009, a Master of Science in Animal Biology from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in 2012, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Biology from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in 2018, including a sandwich doctorate period at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution.
He has served as a professor at UFRPE since 2019. His research focuses on the systematics, phylogenetics, ecology, and biogeography of corals, particularly octocorals and antipatharians in the Southwestern Atlantic and deep-sea environments. Cordeiro received the WoRMS Early Career Researchers Award in 2021. He maintains an active research profile with numerous publications on marine invertebrates and participates in collaborative projects and academic programs at UFRPE.
