Professor Ram Kesavan serves as Professor of Marketing in the College of Business Administration at the University of Detroit Mercy, having joined the faculty in 1980. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. His expertise lies in marketing management, entrepreneurship, and small business. Kesavan teaches courses in marketing and entrepreneurship, and his office is located in Room 204 of the Commerce & Finance Building on the McNichols Campus. He has provided counseling services to over 300 small businesses, predominantly minority-owned, bridging academic theory with practical business applications.
Professor Kesavan's scholarly contributions include authoring over 50 articles and a manuscript on international strategic marketing. His research has been published in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Notable publications co-authored by him encompass "Lasting customer loyalty: a total customer experience approach" (2006, Journal of Consumer Marketing), "Global marketing of lifesaving drugs: an analogical model" (2005), "Co-managing online privacy: a call for joint ownership" (2003), "Challenges to Distributive and Corrective Justice" (2008, Journal of Macromarketing), and "Word of Mouse: CSR Communication and the Social Media" (2013, International Management Review). Kesavan has been honored as the Sam Walton Free Enterprise Fellow. He serves as Treasurer of the Marketing Management Association and is an affiliate of the University of Detroit Mercy's Center for Social Entrepreneurship, demonstrating his sustained impact in academic and professional spheres.
