About Ranjana

Professor Ranjana Seth serves as Professor and Teacher-in-Charge of the Economics Department within the Faculty of Social Sciences at Vasanta College for Women, Rajghat Fort, Varanasi, an institution admitted to the privileges of Banaras Hindu University. A Ph.D. holder, she joined the college on October 10, 1985, as a regular faculty member, accumulating 456 months of experience, which spans over 38 years and positions her as the senior-most professor at the institution. She has previously held the roles of Head and Department In-Charge of Economics. Her extensive tenure reflects a deep commitment to economics education and institutional development.

Professor Seth has played pivotal administrative roles, including Convener of the Academic Committee and the Arthvaad Club, Co-Convener of the Internal Complaint Committee focused on gender sensitization, and member of the Admission Committee. She has officiated as Principal in certain memoranda of understanding and contributed to the local organizing committee for the 59th Annual Conference of The Indian Econometric Society at Banaras Hindu University in March 2025. In scholarship, she authored the book Industrial Economics, published in 2010 by Ane Books Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, frequently referenced in university economics syllabi across India. Her publications include the paper "Reviving the Indian Economy through J.M. Keynes" in the International Journal of Creative Research Thoughts in 2020. She also presented "Interpreting Claudia Goldin Through Indian Lens" at a 2023 seminar on The Economics of Gender, Education and Labour by D.A.V. P.G. College, Varanasi. These contributions highlight her influence in economic theory, industrial economics, and academic governance.
