Dr Reihaneh Bidar is a Lecturer in Business Information Systems at the UQ Business School within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, The University of Queensland. She earned her PhD from the Queensland University of Technology's School of Information Systems in 2018. Her research centers on the impact of emerging technologies like AI on the redesign and organization of work, how organizations navigate the complexities of AI, automation, and digital integration to create value through reshaping tasks, skills, and decision-making. Key areas include human-AI hybrids, knowledge integration during AI development, value co-creation and co-destruction in online collaborative networks and social enterprises, and challenges in crowdsourcing platforms. Bidar is an Associate Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S Centre) and contributes to projects such as AI-driven digital transformation in the public sector.
In her academic career, Bidar has developed, coordinated, and taught courses in business analytics, enterprise architecture, design of enterprise IoT systems, mobile and pervasive systems, mobile app development, and managing business data and information retrieval for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Prior to UQ, she held teaching roles at Queensland University of Technology. She serves as the Business Information Systems Major Convenor at UQ and collaborates with the SAP Institute for Digital Government on initiatives like the thought-leadership report 'Redesigning work with Artificial Intelligence,' adopted by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for invoice processing. Her scholarly output includes 18 works from 2014 to 2025, comprising five journal articles, ten conference publications, two book chapters, and one research report, with 195 citations on Google Scholar. Notable publications are 'Closing the gaps on inscrutability: tackling challenges with knowledge integration during AI development' (2025, Australasian Journal of Information Systems), 'Value co-destruction in online collaborative networks' (2022, European Management Journal), 'Co-creation of services: an online network perspective' (2022, Internet Research), 'Detecting crowdsourcing impasses' (2021, IEEE Access), and 'Paving paths of inquiry-led AI integration for future-ready learners' (2025, book chapter).
