Richard Berard is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Real Estate within the College of Business at the University of Texas at Arlington. He joined the UTA faculty in August 2022. Berard earned his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Georgia State University in 2016 with a major in Business. He previously obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Economics from Bentley University in 1995 and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). As a clinical professor, Berard brings extensive practical experience from a 25-year career as a finance executive, specializing in applied behavioral finance and behavioral economics.
Berard's research interests encompass value creation through mergers and acquisitions, behavioral corporate finance, economic decision making, and firm strategy. He teaches a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in finance and economics, including Business Finance (FINA 3313), Financial Institutions and Markets (FINA 3317), and Advanced Business Financial Analysis (FINA 4315). Additionally, he mentors honors students, such as supervising the 2023 thesis 'Impact of Fintech on the Commercial Banking Industry' by P. Dhakal. Berard maintains an office in Room 311 and is accessible to students through the College of Business.
