Rick Mason serves as a lecturer and tutor in Photography and Digital Media at Murdoch University. He has contributed to student education by curating final portfolios for the PHO124 unit in Semester 2, 2014, alongside Vikki Wilson. In April 2015, Mason presented a lecture on a research project involving a recently discovered cache of historical photographs of Toodyay. He has mentored children aged 12 to 15 in basic camera skills for the exhibition 'Life through the eyes of children in care,' organized in 2016. Mason has commented on photography competitions in Perth, stating that various competitions require different levels of skill, providing opportunities for photographers.
Mason also acts as Lead Tutor for MSP100 Career Learning: Managing Your Career unit at the Murdoch campus, with pronouns he/him. He supports the teaching team in delivering content on employability skills and career management.
