About Rob

Rob Davis is an Associate Professor in the School of Science at Edith Cowan University. He joined the university in 2009 as a lecturer in vertebrate biology, following a postdoctoral position at the University of Western Australia and work in specialist fauna consulting. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Western Australia, awarded in 2005.

His research focuses on applied conservation biology and disturbance ecology, examining the effects of human-induced changes such as fire regimes, invasive species, and land clearing on ecosystems, with particular emphasis on vertebrates including birds, amphibians, mammals such as quolls, and reptiles. Key areas include the impacts of anticoagulant rodenticides on non-target wildlife and the development of predictive models using statistical modelling and GIS. Davis leads the Wildlife Lab at ECU, combining fieldwork with advanced analytical tools. He teaches courses including Conservation Biology, Wildlife Management, Australian Biota, and Biological Conservation, and coordinates the Conservation Biology major and Bachelor of Science program. He is a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London and holds positions including membership of the IUCN SSC Australasian Marsupial and Monotreme Specialist Group, the IUCN SSC Bird Red List Authority, the WA Threatened Species Scientific Committee, and the Perth Zoo Scientific Advisory Committee. He has served as Associate Editor (Ornithology) for Pacific Conservation Biology since 2009. His work has contributed to policy outcomes, including decisions on pest management practices.
