Dr. Robert Wieman serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the Content Area Teacher Education department in Rowan University's College of Education. He is also the Subject Matter Education Mathematics Program Coordinator. Wieman earned a B.A. from Williams College, an M.A. from the City University of New York, and a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware. Since joining Rowan University in 2012, he has advanced through academic ranks, contributing significantly to mathematics teacher preparation programs. He teaches key courses including Teaching and Learning A: Mathematics with practicum, Teaching and Learning B: Mathematics with practicum, and Clinical Practice Seminar. His career includes involvement in initiatives such as the NSF Noyce grant aimed at improving STEM teacher preparation in diverse districts.
Wieman's research specializes in instructional improvement in mathematics and mathematics teacher education. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and co-authored influential works. Johnson Junior Faculty Innovative Teaching Award in 2015, the Wall of Fame for Excellence in Teaching and Advising in 2018 (STEAM Teaching), and the 2013/2014 Frances R. Lax Award. He has served on committees such as the AMTE Advocacy Committee and contributed to professional organizations in mathematics education.
