Professor Roberto de Souza Rodrigues serves as Reitor of the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) and as a professor in the Departamento de Ciências Econômicas at the Instituto Multidisciplinar (IM/UFRRJ). He holds a bachelor's degree in Ciências Econômicas from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), a master's degree in Economia from UFF, and a doctorate in Economia from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) awarded in 2010. His academic experience centers on Economics with emphasis on fiscal policy in Brazil, including public finances, the public sector, fiscal impact, gross tax burden, and social security. In recent years, his research has focused on the budgets of federal universities.

Roberto de Souza Rodrigues is currently serving his second consecutive term as Reitor (2021–2029). Previously, he held positions as Pró-Reitor de Planejamento (2017–2021), Pró-Reitor Adjunto (2015–2017), and Coordenador de Desenvolvimento Institucional (2015–2017) at UFRRJ. He also serves as president of the Friperj – Fórum de Reitores das Instituições Públicas de Ensino do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and brings extensive experience in public administration.
