Robin Cook, PhD, RN, RNC-OB, serves as Associate Professor of the Practice in Nursing and Director of the Second Degree Nursing program at Fairfield University's Austin campus within the Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies. In this leadership role, she directs the Accelerated Second Degree Nursing program, which provides a pathway for individuals holding a bachelor's degree in another field to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Cook plays a pivotal role in student milestones, including presiding over pinning ceremonies and clinical initiation events that mark significant achievements in nursing education.
Cook earned her PhD in Nursing from Texas Woman's University in 2022, with a dissertation titled 'Narrative analysis of birth stories blogged by women.' She previously obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science from Queen's University. As a certified Registered Nurse in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB), her clinical expertise encompasses maternal-child health and leadership, as noted in Fairfield University's proposal to the Texas Board of Nursing for the Austin program. With 14 years of experience in nursing education, Cook contributes to undergraduate clinical supervision and faculty recruitment efforts at the Austin campus. Her work supports Fairfield University's expansion of nursing education in Texas, ensuring high standards in preparing second-degree students for professional nursing practice.
