About Rogerio

Rogerio Arnaldo Lobo, MD, serves as Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center and as Fellowship Director in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology. He previously held the positions of Chair and Willard C. Rappleye Professor of Columbia’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. He also served as Director of the Center for Reproductive Sciences at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and as Director of the Sloane Hospital for Women at Columbia University Medical Center. Prior to his appointments at Columbia, Dr. Lobo was Professor and Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Lobo earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago Hospitals, with residency completion in 1976, and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Southern California Medical Center in 1980. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility. His primary research interests are in reproductive endocrinology, hyperandrogenic disorders, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). He maintains special interests in gamete biology, induction of ovulation, in-vitro fertilization, estrogen metabolism, and the treatment of postmenopausal women. Dr. Lobo helped found the Journal of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and has served as its Editor-in-Chief. In 2010 he served as President of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and continues to serve on the ASRM Executive Committee and Practice Committee. He has lectured extensively on topics in reproductive endocrinology, infertility, PCOS, and menopause.
