About Rohan

Dr. Rohan D’Souza is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact at McMaster University. He is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician at Hamilton Health Sciences and holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Maternal Health. Dr. D’Souza received his MD from the University of Mumbai and completed specialist training leading to the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the United Kingdom. He undertook fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto, and earned his MSc and PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. He also holds the FRCOG designation and serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Toronto.

Dr. D’Souza’s research focuses on improving health outcomes for pregnant individuals with medical disorders and on incorporating patient values and preferences into obstetric decision-making. He is co-Principal Investigator on a Canadian Institutes of Health Research-funded project to establish a Canadian Obstetric Survey System for reporting, reviewing, and reducing severe maternal morbidity. His work is conducted through the Family-Oriented and Service User Centred Research on pregnancy health lab at McMaster University.
