Professor Ruth White serves as Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Marketing at Bowling Green State University’s Schmidthorst College of Business. She earned her MBA from Bowling Green State University, serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during her studies and earning a nomination for the 2009 Graduate Teaching Assistant Award. Before entering academia full-time, White held a leadership role in a Fortune 500 company for over 15 years, managing a $25 million market, $100,000 in field expense budgets, $1 million in salaries for 22 direct reports, marketing initiatives, forecasting, analysis, and multiple projects simultaneously. She owned and operated a small tax preparation business for over 12 years, maintaining a Preparer Tax Identification Number with the IRS. As a mortgage broker, she initiated, designed, facilitated, and presented community education events across Northwest Ohio to help seniors make informed decisions about financial products that improve their financial well-being.
In her current position, White coordinates the Introduction to Business and Applied Business Experience (BizX) programs, teaching Introduction to Business to non-business majors along with various marketing courses. She partners with publishers to share best practices on course implementation, facilitation, and results through virtual, in-person, and email interactions, contributing to resources including guides, videos, and worksheets while leading virtual product trainings and efficacy workshops. Previously, as a corporate trainer, she handled all aspects of company training sessions—design, operations, implementation, facilitation, and presentation—for direct reports and 6,000 independent representatives in a multi-state region. White is the Faculty Advisor for Delta Sigma Pi’s Theta Pi Chapter at Bowling Green State University, receiving the Chapter Advisor of the Year award for her leadership in developing students’ skills within the Schmidthorst College of Business chapter. Her expertise encompasses management, marketing, accounting, and taxes, including consultations on tax consequences of business and personal decisions. White has advanced through promotions, including to Lecturer in the Department of Marketing in 2017.
