About Ryan

Professor Ryan Naylor serves as Academic Coordinator (Education Quality) and Professor of Higher Education within the Sydney School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, at the University of Sydney. He is also listed as Associate Professor (Education). A Fulbright Senior Scholar, Naylor conducted research on adult education at Kansas State University during 2022. He is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Editor of the Student Success journal, where he oversees the editorial process. Previously, he was Lecturer in Higher Education at the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education, University of Melbourne, from 2012 to 2016. Naylor supervises Masters and PhD students on topics in higher education research, health education, and STEM education.

His research focuses on higher education policy, student equity, social inclusion, student experience, access to higher education, equity interventions, and barriers to success for underrepresented groups. With over 2600 citations on Google Scholar, Naylor has published extensively, influencing policy and practice in Australian higher education. His frameworks, such as the Equity Initiatives Framework and Critical Interventions Framework, guide equity strategies and quality compliance in higher education institutions.
