Dr. S. Pavithra is an Associate Professor and Professor & Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chennai Institute of Technology (Autonomous). She holds a Ph.D. in Data Mining, her area of specialization, and joined the institution on June 13, 2013, as a regular faculty member. Since then, she has advanced to her current leadership position within the department, contributing significantly to academic and administrative functions.
Dr. S. Pavithra serves as Chairman of the Board of Studies for Computer Science and Engineering. She holds multiple key committee roles, including Coordinator for the Grievance & Redressal Committee as Associate Professor in CSE, Senior Member of the Internal Complaints Cell, Member of the Disciplinary Committee, and participant in the Anti-Ragging Committee meetings. Additionally, she is recognized in institutional documents such as Mandatory Disclosure and NIRF rankings as a Ph.D. holder and senior faculty. Dr. Pavithra has organized and led academic conferences, notably as Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for the International Conference on Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Applications (ICDSAAI 2026), where she provided the welcome message in the proceedings. Her research output includes co-authored publications in IEEE conferences and journals, such as "Hybrid Machine Learning for Context-Aware Personalized Recommendations" (2025), "Advances in Deep Learning for Tuberculosis Detection in Chest X-rays" (2025), "Pipeline-Driven Handwritten Digit Recognition: A ZenML Pipeline Approach" (2025), "Detecting Unbalanced Network Traffic Intrusions with Deep Learning" (2024), "IOT-Based Smart Health Care Patient Monitoring System Using Raspberry Pi", and "Advanced Garbage Collection in Smart Cities Using IoT" (2019). These works demonstrate her involvement in data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, healthcare applications, and cybersecurity.
