Sabina Nielsen is Professor of International Management in the Discipline of International Business at the University of Sydney Business School. She concurrently holds a Professorship with special obligations in Strategic and International Management at Copenhagen Business School. Nielsen earned her PhD from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She has served as Professor at the University of Sydney since May 2015. Her academic career also includes affiliations with Harvard University's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and the University of South Pacific.
Nielsen's research specializations encompass international management, top management team diversity, corporate board diversity, and the relationship between multinationality and firm performance. Her influential publications include 'Top management team diversity: A review of theories and methodologies,' published in the International Journal of Management Reviews in 2010, which has garnered over 750 citations. Another key work is 'Top management team nationality diversity and firm performance: A multilevel meta-analysis,' appearing in Strategic Management Journal in 2012. More recent contributions feature 'Integrating Diversity at Different Levels: Multilevel Human Capital, Social Capital, and Demographic Diversity' in Academy of Management Review (2016), 'The role of global dynamic managerial capability in the pursuit of global ambidexterity' in Journal of International Business Studies (2022), and 'Gender and racial minorities on corporate boards: How board composition influences tokenism and faultlines' in Strategic Management Journal (2024). Nielsen teaches courses in international business and strategic management at the University of Sydney Business School. Her scholarship advances multilevel perspectives on human capital, social capital, and demographic diversity in upper echelons theory, impacting studies on firm internationalization and performance.
